Researchers

H. Amichi is an agro-economist from the Ecole d’Ingénieurs de Purpan, France. He has conducted research in the three sites on rural employment of young farmers within a project for young researchers (DAIMA).

CLeauthaud

C. Leauthaud , is an agro-hydrologist at CIRAD, France. Her research currently focuses on identifying agroecological practices and understanding their impact on the water cycle to improve the sustainability of irrigated agroecosystems in the Mediterranean context. She is also interested in quantifying changes in the hydrological and vegetation growth cycles in semi-arid and wetland systems. She uses a pluridisciplinary approach combining hydrology, systemic agronomy and ecology concepts and tools, and constructs biophysical models to assess changes of the water cycle at the local scale and modifications of ecosystem properties. She is currently based at the National Institute of Agronomy of Tunis (INAT, Tunisia). She is the coordinator of the project VIANA.

researcher

H. Marrou holds a PhD in Agronomy from Montpellier Supagro (France) where she is now an assistant professor. Her teaching focuses on modelling and crop physiology while she conducts her research on Mediterranean cropping systems within the SYSTEM group. She acquired proficiency on numerical crop models with Pr. T. R. Sinclair at North Carolina State University. She is currently developing research actions on cereal legume rotations for the Mediterranean region, using modelling approaches to explore options to optimize resource (water and nitrogen) availability and resource use efficiency across scales, from field to farm. She leads WP3 in the VIANA project.

Z. Kadiri is an assistant professor of sociology at the FLSH Ain Chock. His work focuses on the socio-political dimensions of irrigation in North Africa, in particular on understanding the rationalities behind farming practices.

Z_Kassouk

Z. Kassouk is an assistant professor in Rural Engineering Water and Forest at INAT, with over 14 years’ experience in geo-informatics, water resource management and land use surveys. She holds a PhD degree in remote sensing at Paris Est University. Her research is focused on developing methods to improve the information content of satellite data for spatial land use mapping.

I. Yahiaoui is an assistant professor at the University of Khemis Miliana. He has developped skills in ecology and hydrology, and uses satellite image tools to evaluate the environmental impacts of irrigation.

The group currently welcomes :
